It’s Surgery Saturday! Meet Jax and his incredibly loving family. Jax is an American Bulldog who was rushed to MVS with a broken leg after being hit by a car. Our Board Certified Surgeon, Dr. D’Amico performed surgery to fix his fractured left leg and this lucky guy got daily visits from family.
It’s Surgery Saturday! Meet Xena, a 3-year old Boston Terrier who came to us after her hind legs began limping and she showed signs of pain. She was cared for by one of our Board Certified Surgeons, Dr. Laura D’Amico who diagnosed Xena with degenerative joint disease in both hips and a dislocated right hip.
Did you know June is Adopt a Cat Month? To celebrate, meet our friend Sugar, an adorable 5-year old Himalayan cat that was rescued by Pet Partners Rescue Home. She was referred to MVS by her Veterinarian after being diagnosed for toxicity which caused her to be lethargic, twitching and made her dehydrated. She was loved and cared for by Dr.

Meet Cheerio, a 7 year old neutered male Poodle who presented to Miami Veterinary Specialists with an acute onset of abdominal pain and vomiting. After his initial evaluation, Cheerio was hospitalized for labs tests, x-rays and fluid treatment to better control the vomiting. The x-rays revealed a small, linear foreign body in the pylorus.
Ninja is a 6 1/2 year old now-neutered Yorkie who presented to Miami Veterinary Specialists with bilateral perineal hernias. At the time of presentation, he was not neutered. He was evaluated by Dr. Sarah Evans, one of our board-certified surgeons, who recommended surgical correction of his perineal hernias and castration. Perineal hernias are a condition seen almost exclusively in intact male dogs;
Little Guy is a lovable 11 year old Yorkshire terrier that presented to Miami Veterinary Specialists last month because he was having trouble breathing. It turned out that Little Guy had a collapsed trachea. He was having complications with a tracheal stent that was placed in 2012. After receiving oxygen therapy and being stabilized, Dr.
Cullen is a Labrador Retriever who is about 3 years old that was found in Tampa, FL and brought to a shelter with multiple injuries. He was cared for and neutered at that time, until our friends at Dalmatian Rescue of South Florida got involved and brought him to Miami. Cullen was brought to Miami Veterinary Specialists for a consultation with Dr.
Stitch Delgadillo is an adorable 12 year old male yorkie who presented to Miami Veterinary Specialists for possible seizures. After bloodwork and an abdominal Ultrasound were performed, Stitch was diagnosed with a large liver mass.
At first glance, the mass was thought to be too large to removed. An abdominal CT scan was recommended to get a better look at the mass and decide if it would be able to be surgically removed.
