Jungle Island Thanks MVS for Saving Peanut’s Life

MVS & JI Thank you

Earlier this month, the veterinary team of Jungle Island came to our hospital with a painting done specially for the MVS team as a token of their gratitude for saving Peanut, the iPad-loving orangutan’s, life.

In mid-2012, Peanut ended up here because her curator at Jungle Island noticed she hadn’t been eating or going to bathroom and she seemed lethargic.  Our head surgeon,Dr. Alvaro Larin, ran tests on her and saw that she had an intestinal obstruction. Together with Dr. Marc Wosar and their team, they performed a life-saving operationremoving the obstruction and reattaching her intestines.  Without the surgery, Peanut would not have survived long and now her recovery has been outstanding.

This one-of-a-kind artwork by Noel Kassewitz was commissioned by Jungle Island to express the park’s gratitude for all the work done for Peanut, the orangutan. In the piece, Peanut is pictured in front of a CT Scan with her hand outstretched towards the hand of a doctor as if asking for help; ultimately the help she received from us.

All of us wish you and your families a wonderful holiday and happy & healthy new year!

See you in 2013!

The MVS Team
