Troubled Terrier Finds Forever Home
WPLG Channel 10 News
MIAMI -- An injured dog, once left for dead, got a second chance at a happy life thanks to a Local 10 viewer.
Last December, we brought you the story of Cali, a Terrier mix that had been
abandoned by her original owners after she was struck by a car.
Veterinarians nursed her back to health and then reached out to Local 10 in hopes of finding her a home.

Denise Lear was getting ready for work when she heard our story.
Lear brought her 14-year-old dog, Casey, to meet Cali at Miami Veterinary Specialists, where she’s been treated for several months.
“When I brought Casey over, they greeted each other and went on their own way like they’d known each other for ages,” Lear said.
And so, Lear decided to adopt Cali and give her a forever home.
She said her biggest challenge has been trying to exhaust Cali’s seemingly limitless energy.
"I've tried many things to wear her down," Lear said. "The most I've succeeded is getting her to lay down for 5 or 10 minutes and then she's back up and ready to go."
This rambunctious and sweet-natured dog is now part of loving family.
“I think it's a good fit,” Lear said. “I think she's what we needed.”
